Five Kinky Toys That Look Scarier Than They Are

We know looks aren’t everything, but it’s impossible to deny that they count for a lot —  especially when it comes to the right gear for your toybox. When you’re pulling out something that you’ve been saving for just the right moment with your partner,  you are probably hoping to see that look of mingled anticipation and trepidation cross their face, at least momentarily. That adrenaline hit of fear-based excitement feels so good that we seek it out wherever we can: horror movies, roller coasters, or even in the bedroom.

We’ve put together a little list of five of our favorite toys to make their eyes go wide. Each of these items has the ability to raise more goosebumps than welts (if used with a delicate touch), but you still need to exercise caution and restraint at all times;  even the most cuddly or innocuous item can be dangerous if you use it wrong.

5) Medieval Pinwheel: This fiendish-looking device looks like something that the Spanish Inquisition kept around to interrogate heretics, , but it’s actually perfect to  create pleasant stimulation on the body’s most tender and sensuous parts. Whether you use a light touch or a firm one, run it over the nipple, genitals, thighs, or whatever other part of the anatomy catches your fancy for some precise and subtle eroticism.

4) 24-Inch Suede Flogger: Another frequently misunderstood tool is the flogger: While certainly capable of delivering punishing blows, in skilled hands it is an excellent sensation enhancer. Whether dragging the soft suede tails across the chest of your bound partner, or only connecting with the tips using a slight, stinging throw, the uses of this classic piece of gear are limited only by your imagination.

3) Neon Wand: Our fascination and fear of electricity gives a rush to any electrosex or e-stim play before you so much as plug in a cord. The basic Neon Wand kit is a great toy to tease those looking for a little extra voltage in their sensation play. When coupled with the Power Tripper body contact electrode, you can literally make the sparks fly between your bodies. Other attachments include The Claw — wicked enough on its own, the tingle of current adds an entirely new dimension to its touch. In addition, you can spend hours browsing the different glass and metal electrodes, each of which promises its own unique touch. Check out the video below for an in-depth look.

2) Arm Splints:  There are probably more BDSM tools devoted to restraining hands, wrists, and arms than any other single purpose. The inability to defend or free oneself heightens the delicious anticipation in any scene. The Stockroom itself was founded on a simple desire to build a better, more affordable wrist cuff, and expanded from there into the diverse fetish marketplace it is today. Our arm splints feature stiff leather to keep arms locked in a fully extended position, but allow for more diverse positioning and attachment options than either of our other popular full-arm restraints; the Bondage Opera Gloves, and various models of Arm Binders.

1) Canvas Body Bag:  Sleep sacks and body bags give a physical representation to our most claustrophobic thoughts and feelings. Total body encasement leaves the subject completely defenseless, their safety and security in the hands of another. As with all the other items on this list, careful planning and protocol are paramount, but given a trustworthy partner and proper safety precautions, sleep sacks, and their even more restrictive cousin, the latex vac-bed, can offer an unforgettable experience!
